Ford Fiesta - Door Release Problem

I have a W reg Ford Fiesta 1.4 Ghia.  The driver door internal release is not working.  I have removed the door panel but cannot get the mechanism out.  The cable is limp.  Any advice?

As I thought but needed to check, this is a very awkward not to say difficult job to do.

The mechanism comes complete with the cable but to do the job it involves removing the window runners - the runner at the rear of the drivers door has got a special plate on it to stop people breaking in through the lock.

Sadly on these cars these runners are glued into position and require being cut out...They then have to be refitted using special very strong glue.

The whole job is really involved...In short, my advice has got to be to seek the services of a body shop, it could save you money in the long run.
